6 Simple Upgrades For a Glamping Property Guaranteed to Drive Bookings

4 min read

Your glamping property should offer more than a beautiful glamping tent shelter. It should provide guests with an experience. And the best way to add value to that experience is through simple, thoughtful upgrades that make each stay more comfortable, functional, and memorable.

When you include amenities that guests appreciate, such as climate controls and cozy beds, as well as warm showers and morning coffee, you’re not just improving your space; you’re increasing your chances of glowing reviews, repeat bookings, and longer seasons.

Seeking simple upgrades to boost bookings? Here are six high-impact, guest-approved upgrades to make your glamping property stand out.

6 Easy Upgrades to Elevate Your Glamping Property (and Increase Guest Bookings)

1. Add Climate Controls: Heat, Cooling, and Seasonal Flexibility

Extend your glamping property booking window and enhance guests’ comfort levels by offering additional heating and cooling upgrades. Adding extra amenities and temperature controls appeals to a wider range of guests, making your accommodation stay comfortable in humid summers and chillier nights and ultimately creating a more enjoyable experience overall.

If you’re smart, your glamping tent will already have ventilation upgrades, such as mesh windows, roof vents, and roll-up sidewalls, to maintain air circulation and prevent heat buildup during the day. However, there are more ways to upgrade!

In warmer weather, consider bringing out battery-powered or rechargeable fans to provide sufficient airflow. (Hint: Look for quiet, oscillating fans with at least 8-12 hours of runtime.) And if your glamping property already has power hookups or solar capability? Consider energy-efficient, portable A/C units.

If your glamping property experiences cool weather, consider auto-shut-off propane heaters (and CO2 detectors) or installing a small wood-burning stove (with proper venting and a heat-safe floor). Not only does a glowing stove add serious heat, but it also adds ambiance.

2. Offer Better Bedding: Raised Frames and Cozy Linens

Better bedding doesn’t have to be pricey. It’s simply about making it look and feel clean and comfy.

You can start with an elevated bed frame, which raises the mattress off the ground. Proper bed frames provide a homey aesthetic, stability, and even under-bed storage that keeps the glamping space tidy and clutter-free. Stick to a real mattress, not an inflatable one. Memory foam is a luxurious upgrade that signals to guests that you value their comfort.

When it comes to dressing the bed, don’t rely on a single comforter. Instead, layer blankets and throws on top of high-quality linens (think moisture-wicking sheets for summer and flannel or fleece for winter). You could even add a heated blanket or mattress pad for extra warmth. Top it off with a throw or pillow or two, adding a low-cost upgrade that decorates the space and adds character.

3. Provide Charging Stations and Power Options

Travelers need a way to charge their devices, cameras, or lanterns. Offering reliable, accessible power, such as bedside outlets or USB hubs, is a simple upgrade you can make to a glamping property.

Off-grid glamping properties are ideal for rooftop solar panels, compact generators, and portable battery stations (like Jackery or EcoFlow systems). Adding power to a glamping stay can also power your accessories and amenities, such as lanterns, fans, and other items mentioned in upgrades #1 and #2.

A nice addition is to add hooks or small shelves near outlets where guests can rest devices while charging.

4. Tent Platforms and Rugs: Comfort, Cleanliness, and Style

Elevate your glamping tent or yurt onto a wooden platform or deck for added comfort and style. Not only does a tent platform lift the glamping room off the ground and keep it maintained and protected year-round, but it also presents a more private and comfortable space that improves your guests' experience.

Imagine how clean and dry the interior will be on a rainy day. A tent platform upgrade also adds a layer of insulation from cold or damp ground. A platform is a must for uneven groundand root-covered surfaces.

Install a deck with pressure-treated lumber or deck tiles to keep the tent standing steady and secure. Then, add a natural rug or fiber mat to the solid underfoot to make the interior flooring more protected and plush.

5. Coffee-Making Station: Easy Morning Brews for Guests

Building a structured cooking area or full kitchen for guests to cook meals is a very nice upgrade. But if that’s not in the cards, there is still an easy option: A coffee-making station.

Even a small, stocked coffee-making station can elevate the tent or glamping property, offering guests a quick cup of joe before hitting the trail – or just cozying up in bed with those luxe sheets.

Consider a simple coffee-making setup, such as a French press or pour-over, paired with a small kettle, along with mugs, spoons, sweeteners, and creamers. Offer locally sourced beans or single-serve packets. You could even add extra drink options, such as tea or hot cocoa. Then assemble everything on a small table or tray tucked inside the glamping tent.

6. A Private Bathhouse: Refreshing and Clean

Adding a private bathhouse to your glamping property will attract a specific type of guest – first-time glampers, parents traveling with children, and others. And creating a well-designed and functional structure is easier than you think!

When it comes to sanitation, installing composting toilets or camping toilets is a start. However, to truly upgrade a glamping property, take it a step further with an outdoor shower setup featuring drainage(such as gravel or wood slats) and an on-demand water heaterbecause hot showers make happy guests. Then, make the space luxurious with wood slat walls and screens to create a sense of privacy.

Final Thoughts

In glamping, aesthetics matter. But what keeps guests coming back is how your space feels. Did they stay warm through the night? Could they charge their phone for morning photos? Did they sip coffee in bed while wrapped in a cozy blanket?

The good news is that these six upgrades don’t require a total property overhaul. Select one or two of these upgrades to begin with and observe the difference in your bookings and reviews.
